Team Malawi experiences village life
Five teenage boys from the UK visited rural Malawi to experience a unique insight into daily life. They teamed up with a village Youth Group and joined them in their daily chores; taking water from the borehole to the elderly, sweeping their homes and repairing verandahs with mud and water. They also sang hymns with the Mothers' Union at the homes of members now too frail to go to church and enjoyed football matches with the locals each afternoon. Four days were spent at Msomba Primary School in the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi where the boys shared songs, traditional games and art activities with the learners. A vibrant showcase was the culmination of much hard work and fun with the whole village community assembled. It was quite a thing. As the Team Malawi bus was driving out of the village the sound of school children singing their newly learnt songs could be heard. The experience and memories will live long in the hearts and minds of all involved.
